The North Coast runs from Umdhloti to the start of Zululand at the mouth of the Tugela River.
Although very developed with its upmarket homes, the North Coast still has a lot to offer for the discerning hiker.
Many of the beaches are still unspoiled with regular sightings of dolphins and whales playing in the waves while the warm climate with its fresh ocean breeze makes one feel like you are on a tropical island.
From the sweet sugarcane fields that go right up to the golden beaches and the wild banana trees, a popular delicacy with the many monkeys in the area, to the infamous Shaka’s rock where it is believed that King Shaka used to execute people who disobeyed him, this is a trail with stunning scenery.
Our 3 day trail along the North Coast can be extended into a 5 day trail walking into Zululand. We offer catered and self-catering slackpacking packages as well as catered, self-catering and camping backpacking packages.
